Liposculpture
in Fort Myers, Florida

Exert Clinic in Florida offers liposculpture, an advanced technique that eliminates stubborn pockets of fat that are unresponsive to diet and exercise. Our skilled team of cosmetic and plastic surgeons uses minimally invasive procedures with small incisions to precisely contour the body. We create customized treatment plans and often combine liposculpture with other care to help our patients achieve natural-looking, long-lasting results.

What Is Liposculpture?

Liposculpture is a cosmetic surgery that aims to contour different body areas by removing stubborn pockets of fat. In some cases, this tissue is used to augment buttocks, face, and other parts. This procedure goes beyond just fat removal to highlight the underlying musculature, such as the “six-pack,” lateral torso, and pectorals. Our surgeon inserts a small tube (called a cannula) under the skin to suction out excess fat and help patients achieve their aesthetic goals.

How Is Liposculpture
Different From the Traditional Liposuction Procedure?

Liposculpture is a newer type of liposuction that involves a more artistic approach to body contouring than traditional methods. While standard liposuction simply removes fat cells from problematic areas, liposculpture focuses more on creating an aesthetically pleasing shape and proportions.

This new technique includes both extraction and grafting. The fat that is removed from the abdomen and flanks is processed and then carefully injected back into the buttocks and breasts for augmentation. This allows the surgeon to “sculpt” the body by removing fat cells in some places and adding them in others.

In addition, liposculpture requires smaller cannulas than traditional liposuction. These tiny tubes allow for more precision in fat removal and less damage to surrounding tissues. The smaller cannula size combined with the fat transfer gives cosmetic and plastic surgeons greater control in creating
a natural, proportional appearance with liposculpture.

Power-Assisted Liposculpture

Exert Clinic performs power-assisted liposculpture, which involves the use of a powered cannula with a vibrating tip
to break up fat cells, making them easier to remove. The vibrating motion helps to dislodge and fragment fat clusters
into smaller pieces that can then be suctioned out. This technique removes unwanted tissue more safely than traditional liposuction procedures.

Consultation & Preparation
for Liposculpture

Before plastic surgery, a consultation is scheduled to discuss the patient’s goals and expectations. Our team evaluates the areas of concern and
skin elasticity. They explain the procedure, potential risks, and recovery
in detail, allowing the patient to make an informed decision.

Candidates should undergo lab testing and medical clearances to ensure maximum safety. They must also follow preoperative instructions, which typically include fasting after midnight, avoiding certain medications/supplements that increase bleeding (such as ibuprofen and aspirin), and washing surgical sites with antibacterial soap. Candidates should stop drinking alcohol and smoking two weeks before the operation. It is essential to communicate with the surgeon and diligently follow their directives to achieve the best results.

Liposculpture Procedure

Anesthesia

This surgical procedure is performed under local anesthesia and Pronox to keep the patient comfortable. We do not use general anesthesia. A large volume of tumescent solution (saline, lidocaine, and epinephrine) is injected into the fatty areas. The lidocaine swells the tissues for easier removal, while the saline provides local numbing.

Incisions

Our Surgeon makes small incisions in areas with unwanted fat deposits. These openings allow the surgeon to use the cannula (thin tube) to loosen and suction out excess tissue. Common incision sites include the abdomen, hips, thighs, knees, flank, and back.

Excess Fat Removal

Once the incisions are made, the surgeon inserts the cannula through them to target the deeper fat deposits. These thin tubes are moved in a controlled back-and-forth motion to break up and loosen the tissue. The dislodged fat is then suctioned out gently using a special machine attached to the cannula.

Closing Incisions

The small incisions are carefully closed with sutures or surgical tape. Sterile dressings and compression garments are applied to complete these cosmetic procedures.

Add-Ons to Liposculpture

Fat transfer is a popular add-on procedure that can significantly improve the results. During liposculpture, excess fat cells are removed from the abdomen, flanks, thighs, and other areas. Rather than discarding all of this tissue, a portion of it can be purified and used to augment the breasts or buttocks. Compared to implants, fat transfer is a more natural way to enhance these areas. The transplanted tissue is absorbed by the body over time, allowing for permanent augmentation for most patients. Over 60% of the transferred fat is estimated to survive in the long term. Combining liposculpture with fat grafting to the breasts or buttocks makes it possible for the surgeon to harvest natural tissue and make the patient’s curves even more desirable.

Renuvion is a new technology that can be used with liposculpture to remove fat and tighten loose, sagging skin. It involves the use of radiofrequency (RF) energy delivered through a specialized handpiece. The RF energy heats the deep layers of the skin, stimulating collagen production and remodeling. This results in tighter, smoother skin with improved elasticity over time.

After the fat is removed, the Renuvion handpiece is inserted under the skin, delivering precise RF energy to target areas. This skin-tightening treatment can improve many zones, including the arms, abdomen, thighs, neck, and face. As long as new collagen
is produced, the effects may last more than 6-12 months after surgery.

In general, Renuvion is highly beneficial when added to liposculpture. This combination helps patients achieve a more toned, youthful appearance. Considering that liposculpture is an aesthetic procedure, the use of skin-tightening technology is essential in most cases.

Recovery After Liposculpture

The recovery period after liposculpture varies depending on the extent
of the surgery, but there is usually some degree of swelling, bruising,
and discomfort for the first 14-21 days. Compression garments are worn for 4-8 weeks to help reduce the symptoms and promote skin retraction.

Patients should avoid strenuous activity for about a month to support proper healing. Bruising usually resolves within a couple of weeks, but swelling may persist for a month or longer. Most patients can return
to non-strenuous work within a few days but should take enough time
to heal before resuming intense exercise.

To ensure optimal liposculpture results, it is important to follow all post-operative instructions from the surgeon regarding medication, compression garments, activity restrictions, and follow-up appointments.

Good Candidates
for Liposculpture

The best candidates for this procedure:
Patients must have some pockets of fat that are resistant to diet and exercise. The abdomen, thighs, hips, and flanks are common trouble spots. Candidates should also have good skin elasticity because it allows the skin to conform to the new body contours after fat removal.
Liposculpture is not a weight loss procedure. It is intended for targeted reduction of stubborn fat deposits. Candidates should be close to their ideal body weight, with isolated fatty bulges. They must have realistic expectations for the results of this operation.
Good overall health helps to ensure the best surgical outcomes and easy recovery. Candidates should be non-smokers or willing to quit nicotine consumption at least 2 weeks before and after the procedure. They must also have no major medical issues. Any conditions that impair healing or increase surgical risks should be optimized first before considering liposculpture.
Patients must be committed to healthy lifestyle changes after liposculpture to maintain their new figures. Regular exercise and mindful eating make the results last longer. However, significant weight gain after surgery may compromise or reverse them.

Minimally Invasive Procedure

Like tumescent liposuction, liposculpture is a minimally invasive procedure. Only small incisions are required
to insert the cannula to remove fat. This means there
is very little pain, scarring, or downtime required
for recovery. Most patients can return to normal activity within a few days.

Corrects Asymmetries

Liposculpture can correct the uneven distribution of fat that causes body asymmetry. With precise techniques, a board-certified plastic surgeon can balance the contours and proportions. As a result, the body shape becomes more harmonious and symmetrical.

Provides Lasting Results

Fat removal from liposculpture is permanent
if the figure is maintained with a healthy diet and lifestyle. The number of fat cells in the treated area is reduced during the procedure, so the improvements should remain for many years as long as the weight is kept stable.

Enhances Muscle Definition

This operation improves muscle definition by removing stubborn pockets of fat. When excess fat no longer obscures the muscles, areas like the abdomen, thighs, arms, and neck look more toned. Thus, liposculpture creates a slimmer and more fit appearance. The refinement of contours makes the body look athletic and youthful.
